Kuldhara
The abandoned Paliwal village outside Jaisalmer, empty since the 1820s.
Kuldhara was left overnight by its Paliwal Brahmin residents almost two centuries ago and never resettled. The grid of roofless sandstone houses is oddly moving, and it is only a short detour on the way to Sam.
