Before you set off

The Ajmer–Pushkar detour adds around three hours in total and is worth every minute.
Large vehicles cannot approach the Ajmer dargah closely — plan for a 10-minute walk from the parking area.
In November the Pushkar camel fair makes the last stretch very slow. Budget an extra two hours.
The Jaipur ring road avoids the worst of the city traffic if your hotel is on the south or east side.
