Fatehpur Sikri
Akbar's abandoned capital, complete and empty, 40 km from Agra.
Built in 1571 and left within fifteen years for want of water. The red sandstone city is remarkably intact, and it sits directly on the Agra–Jaipur road, so it costs almost nothing to include.
